Nathan Calvin Lucas, 80, of Clear Spring, Md., passed away at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington D.C., surrounded by his family on Feb. 15, 2013.

Nathan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat; daughter, Shari Ferrera and her husband, Linford; daughter, Staci Lucas-King and her husband, J. Scott; loving grandchildren, Lauren Sydney King, Aiden Nathaniel King and Molli Elizabeth Leigh King; sisters, CoraLee Martin and Joan Elizabeth Tucker and her husband, Steve; brothers, Donald Lucas and his wife, Jenny, Theodore Paul Rosenberry, and James (Jim) Rosenberry and his wife, Belinda; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. Nathan was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.

Nathan was preceded in death by his father, Nathan Lucas Sr.; his mother and father, Caroline and James Frank Roseberry; his sister, Betty Lucas; brothers, John Henry Rosenberry and Frank “Babe” Rosenberry; his brother-in-law, Lloyd Russell “Bud” Martin Sr.; and a nephew, Teddy Rosenberry.

Nathan served in the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He was retired from the State of Maryland Correctional Facilities. Nathan was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, and helping his neighbors. He was a member of Mooresville Church of God, AARP, MCEA and the NRA. Nathan was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Georgetown University Hospital for their loving care and support. Also thank you to Thompson Funeral Home for all of the arrangements.

Services will be Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Dean Metcalf and the Rev. Dennis Whitmore will officiate.  Burial will be in Parkhead Cemetery in Big Pool, Md., with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Friends may visit the funeral home after noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mooresville Church of God, c/o Debbie Aleshire, 12436 Indian Springs Road, Clear Spring, MD 21722.
