Youth ensemble to perform Saturday

The New England Youth Ensemble will perform Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church, 11507 Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown. 

Founded 40 years ago, the ensemble is under the direction of Preston Hawes. Under its professional name, the New England Symphonic Ensemble, it is a resident orchestra at Carnegie Hall, where it has performed more frequently than any other orchestra in the country. The student organization is a part of Washington Adventist University.

Dinner theater planned

Ringgold Church of Christ will hold  a women’s dinner ministry theater titled “Moolah Mystery.”

It will be Friday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel. An Italian buffet costs $5 per person. Register by March 3.

Women are encouraged to bring a friend and help solve the crime.

The church is at 14420 Barkdoll Road in Hagerstown.

Youths help REACH

The Welty Church of the Brethren youth group participated in the Souper Bowl Day of Caring on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3. The event is a national movement of young people working together to fight hunger and poverty in their communities. 

The group collected a total of $413 in soup pots and all proceeds were donated to the REACH cold-weather shelter in Hagerstown. 

The church is on Greensburg Road in Smithsburg.

AAUW to meet

The Hagerstown Branch of the American Association of University Women will meet Saturday at noon at Ryan’s, 17830 Garland Groh Blvd.

There will be a presentation by Beth Matonak on the value of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education for girls.

Anyone interested is invited to attend.

The buffet lunch costs $6.79, plus beverage cost.
