Old Forge students collect coins to help hurricane victims

February 17, 2013

After reading about Superstorm Sandy in Time for Kids magazine, the fifth-graders at Old Forge Elementary School decided they wanted to do something to help the storm victims.

During the month of December, the entire school (students and staff) collected coins for the American Red Cross to help Superstorm Sandy victims.

The fifth-graders wrapped and counted the money. The total amount collected was $635.53.

In January, Bob Carder,  a representative from the American Red Cross, came to the school and the students presented him with a check.
