Thumbs up to those involved with Berkeley County (W.Va.) Schools’ WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program, which was featured Monday morning on the NBC News “Today” show. The program provides an opportunity for fathers or father figures at eight schools in the county to take an active part in their children’s lives within the school environment.
 
Thumbs up to B’nai Abraham Synagogue and First Christian and Trinity Lutheran churches for their participation in the annual Potter’s Bowl. The event, in its 21st year, drew 280 guests and raised much-needed funds for the Community Free Clinic.

Thumbs up to Martinsburg BPO Elks Lodge 778, which on Sunday night held its 19th annual Law & Safety Day awards ceremony, honoring members of state, county and local police and paid fire departments.
