St. Mark's Episcopal Church plans Lenten concert Sunday

February 14, 2013

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Lappans offers Evensong and a Concert for the First Sunday in Lent at 5 p.m. in the St. Mark’s Fellowship Center, 18313 Lappans Road, just off Sharpsburg Pike.

The Washington Cappella Antiqva, a small vocal ensemble dedicated to the integration of liturgical and musicological research and scholarship, will sing Choral Evensong and present a short concert at the end of the prayers.

A reception to honor the choir takes place after the service. A free-will offering will be taken to benefit the music ministry of St. Mark’s.

Since its foundation in September 1983 by Patrick W. Jacobson, its director, the Cappella has striven to offer authentic versions of Eastern and Western Christian, Hebrew and Pre-Christian Chant, as well as of Sacred and Secular Polyphony from the Mediaeval, Renaissance, Early and Mid-Baroque, Late and Post-Romantic and Contemporary periods.

The Cappella is an independent ensemble. For more information, contact The Washington Cappella Antiqva, P.O. Box 16884, Alexandria VA 22302 or send an email to Cappella.Antiqva.Vasingtonensis@gmail.com.
