Energy grant offsets cost of town office work

The Town of Clear Spring has received a state energy grant worth $5,000 that was used to offset recent improvements at the town hall office on Cumberland Street, town officials said Tuesday.

Clear Spring Mayor Paul D. Hose Jr. said work completed in the office included new lights, as well as a new ceiling and insulation.

Spring cleanup day announced

Clear Spring officials again will be holding a bulk cleanup day this spring for town residents.

Approved by a unanimous vote Tuesday, spring cleanup day will be May 7 at a cost of $500 through the town’s trash collector, Apple Valley Waste.

Larger-than-normal items will be excepted, Town Clerk Juanita Grimm said, including old appliances and furniture.

Residents who wish to take advantage of the service should set items out at their regular location by 5:30 a.m. on May 7, Grimm said.
