1. A 'Sweetheart' of an evening

Sweetheart Casino Big Band Evening will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Hager Hall Conference and Event Center, 901 Dual Highway, Hagerstown. Casino with card games, wheel games, dice games and more. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and carving stations, cash bar, tip jars, pull tabs, 50/50 cash raffles and silent and live auctions. Ray Birely's Big Band will play songs from the 1940s and swing era. Sponsored by Discovery Station. 6 to 10 p.m. $45 per person; $80 per couple. The price includes "Discovery Station Funny Money" that can be used for games and silent auction items. Purchase tickets at Discovery Station, 101 W. 2. Listen to the winds

Shepherd University's Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will perform Friday, Feb. 15, at Shepherd University's Frank Center, off University Drive, Shepherdstown, W.Va. Pre-concert lecture at 7:30; concert at 8 p.m. Selections include "Military Escort" by Henry Fillmore; "Fairest of the Fair" by John Philip Sousa; "An American in Paris" by George Gershwin; and the first movement of Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Wind Ensemble by David Maslanka featuring Jeremy Koch, saxophone instructor at Shepherd. $10; $5 for faculty and staff, Shepherd alumni, senior citizens and students 18 and younger; free for Shepherd students with Rambler ID and Friends of Music MAC cardholders. 3. Cut a little off

Washington County Master Gardeners will give information on pruning trees and shrubs from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 16, at Hagerstown City Farmers' Market, 25 W. Church St., Hagerstown.



4. Movie night at the library

The movie, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" (PG-13). at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, Smithsburg Library's community room, 66 W. Water St., Smithsburg.  A withdrawn teen attempts to remain hopeful for the future while dreading every day of the present. (PG-13) Refreshments. Call 301-824-7722 to reserve a seat.


5. Dance with your loved one

Smithsburg Youth Athletics will host a Valentine's dance as a fundraiser from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Hagerstown Elks Lodge 378, 11063 Robinwood Drive, east of Hagerstown.  The Drew Adams Project will provide music.
