GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mercersburg 52, Peddie 49

HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. — Mercersburg Academy erased a 23-point halftime deficit to force overtime and ultimately beat Peddie School in a consolation game at the Mid-Atlantic Prep League tournament on Sunday.

The Blue Storm (15-7) scored just 12 points in the first half and trailed Peddie 35-12. They doubled their score in the third quarter alone, but still trailed 41-24 going into the fourth.

MacKenzie Brink hit a pair of free throws with about a minute left to put the finishing touches on a 20-3 fourth quarter that tied the score at 44-all. In the overtime period, Hanna Warfield hit a jumper to give Mercersburg a one-point lead, then iced the game with a pair of free throws.

Melody Gomez had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Teal Tasker had 15 points and four steals — all in the fourth quarter — and Sarah Firestone added 10 points for Mercersburg.

HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. — Reggie Fiumano scored a game-high 21 points to lead Mercersburg Academy past The Hill School in a consolation game at the Mid-Atlantic Prep League tournament.

Dre Wills added 11 points for the Blue Storm (8-13).
