Jesse Louise (Widmyer) Hunter, 99, of Great Cacapon, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013.

Jessie was the wife of the late William Henry Hunter, whom she married in 1938.

She was born Oct. 11, 1913, the daughter of the late Carol G. and Bertha Waugh Widmyer.

Educated in the local school district, she went on to attend Shepherd College, Shippensburg College and West Virginia University.

She was the past president of the United Women of Trinity Asbury Church, president of the junior and senior Woman’s Clubs, Morgan County Historical and Genealogical Society, and Region II Reading Council.

She also held positions with the Regent of Ye Towne of Bath Chapter NSDAR and was the registrar. She was a board member of CAREL, the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Morgan County Humane Society. She was a past secretary of the Morgan County Library Trustees and a former vice president of the Retired School Employees of Morgan County. She also served a term on the council of the Town of Bath.

She is survived by her son, James Carl Hunter (Susan), of Albuquerque, N.M.

Calling will be Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 36 S. Green St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Service will be Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Richard Craig, also at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Greenway Cemetery in Berkeley Springs.
