Hartle’s Subs is opening a drive-thru window at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at 22317 Jefferson Blvd. in Smithsburg.

There are two other Hartle’s sites in Washington County — at 635 S. Potomac St. and 1301 Marshall St. in Hagerstown.

John and Margaret Hartle opened Hartle’s Subs on South Potomac St. in 1955. After Margaret died in 1997, her daughters, Beverly and Barb, took control of the business. Beverly eventually bought Barb's share of the business.

In the late 1990s, a few weeks after the business closed, Beverly Hartle reopened Hartle’s on Marshall Street. Beverly moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C., and sold the Hartle’s name and recipes to Richard and Paula Robertson in 2004.

The Robertsons reopened the South Potomac Street location in 2008, then opened the third shop in 2010 in Smithsburg.
