Maugansville Little League to hold registration

Maugansville Little League registration will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maugansville Ruritan building, 18007 Maugans Ave. 

Boys and girls ages 4 to 18 who are interested in playing baseball are welcome to register.

Also, the league is looking for volunteers to coach, umpire, be a team mom/dad, and other serving positions. Student service learning hours are available.

Opening ceremonies on Saturday, April 6, at 10 a.m. will kick off the season, followed by a full slate of games.

Valentine’s Line Dance

The Country Western Dance Association will hold a Valentine’s dance for singles and couples Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the former Quincy Gym, 7888 Anthony Highway, Waynesboro, Pa.,

The dance is open to the public.

Tickets cost $5.

Chocolate feast Saturday

There will be a chocolate feast Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 29 East Ave., State Line, Pa. 

Chocolates, cookies, baked goods, Valentine gifts and other items will be available for purchase. 



Longmeadow Lions Club to have guest speaker Feb. 14

Beth Alphin will give a slide presentation on her Panama trip at Longmeadow Lions Club’s meeting Thursday, Feb. 14, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Always Ron’s, 29 N. Burhan’s Blvd. Spouses are invited. Lion Club members from other branches are welcome, but requested to call 301-739-2815 for reservations.



Sports card show

There will be a sports card show Sunday, Feb. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Maugansville Ruritan building, 18007 Maugans Ave. 

Admission is free. There will be door prizes and 35 vendor tables.

BCA planning annual auction

Broadfording Christian Academy will host a spaghetti dinner and live auction Friday, Feb. 15, at the school at 13535 Broadfording Road in Hagerstown. 

The dinner starts at 4 p.m. and the live auction is at 7 p.m. 

Dinner costs $8 for adults and $4 for those ages 5 and younger. 

The silent auction is free.

There will be a bake sale and a soup sale, babysitting services for both the live and silent auctions, music entertainment and other events.

Some of the items to be auctioned include His and Her Trek Bikes, 49cc Jonway scooter, 110c ATV, 42-inch TV, two-night stays at Outer Banks and in Florida, Studio 6 membership with training sessions, Redskins and Giants tickets, helmets signed by former San Diego Charger QB Dan Fouts and by former Houston Oilers QB Warren Moon, child motorized Boss Mustang, tickets to MSO and Sound Theater, salon services, photo sessions, themed baskets, artwork and other items.

Williamsport Community Band seeks new members

The Williamsport Community Band welcomes anyone with playing experience and the desire to be apart of a local community band to attend the first rehearsal for the 2013 season Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at St. James Brethren Church, 17718 Lappans Road.
