Veterinary assistant training planned by HCC

February 07, 2013

The Continuing Education Division at Hagerstown Community College will offer veterinary assistant training beginning Feb. 18 at HCC’s Valley Mall center.

The training consists of four courses offered from Feburary through December. Upon successful completion of all four courses, participants will earn a certification of completion from HCC.

Veterinary assistant training prepares students to work in the animal care field, supporting veterinary technicians and veterinarians in a variety of settings.

The first course, “Terminology for Veterinary Assistants,” will be Feb. 18 to April 15. Course two, “Veterinary Assistant Training Principles Part I,” will be from April 22 to Aug. 5. Course three, “Veterinary Assistant Training Practices,” will be from Aug. 12 to Sept. 16. The final course, “Veterinary Assistant Training Principles Part II,” will be  Sept. 23 to Dec. 13.

To register or learn more, call Adrienne Summers at 240-500-2520 or send an email to amsummers@hagerstowncc.edu.

Portions of the training are licensed by the Institute for Veterinary Training at Carroll Community College. Students must be at least 18 years old before the first class and must have a high school diploma or GED.
