The Elizabethtown East Chapter of Neighborhoods First will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rocky’s Pizza next door to City Hall on North Potomac Street in Hagerstown.

Singing valentines offered by chorus

The Mason-Dixon Barbershop Chorus will be dressed in formal attire to sing valentines on Wednesday, Feb. 13, and Thursday Feb. 14.

This is the chorus’ annual fundraiser.

The singing valentines cost $40, which include two love songs, a Valentine card and a remembrance gift. The valentine songs will be sung at the place of your choosing.

Girls softball registration set

The Washington County Girls Softball League will hold its 2013 registration for girls in grades three through eight at Dick’s Sporting Goods, 17780 Garland Groh Blvd., on Saturdays, Feb. 9, 16 and 23, from noon to 5 p.m.

Basket bingo to benefit band

The E. Russell Hicks Band Boosters will hold a basket bingo Sunday, Feb. 17, at Elks Lodge 378 in Hagerstown.   
Doors open at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $25, which include 25 games and  lunch.

There will be raffles, door prizes and tip jars, including a King Tut. All winning game baskets will be filled.

The proceeds from the event will help supply music, instruments and uniforms for the music students at the school.

Fuzzy valentine photos to benefit animal shelter

Studio 3 Photography will hold its annual My Fuzzy Valentine photo event to benefit the Humane Society of Washington County Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 6 S. Main St. in Boonsboro. Street parking is available in front of the studio.

Studio owner Kim McMillion will have props on hand to be used as pets are photographed. Photos cost $10 each and 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the animal shelter.

“If folks bring an animal-related item as a donation, the cost will be reduced to $5 and the entire amount will be donated to the HSWC,” McMillion said in a news release.

Monkey Joe’s plans event

With many children out of school for Presidents Day, parents will be looking for a fun destination, no matter what the weather might bring. 

This year, Monkey Joe’s announces a nationwide birthday celebration of its namesake, Monkey Joe, on Monday, Feb. 18.

The all-day event will serve as a customer appreciation day for all of Monkey Joe’s loyal customers and families, and participating Monkey Joe’s locations will offer a discounted admission of $5, free pizza for the first 100 children and a free birthday party goodie bag for the first 75 children. 

In addition, attendees will also be able to take part in a birthday celebration, including singing “happy birthday” to their favorite mascot.
