Mary Jane Ahalt, 92, a resident of Tilghmanton, Md., for more than 50 years, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport, Md.

Born Aug. 15, 1920, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Russell L. Spessard Sr. and Margaret C. Semler Spessard.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jay R. Wingerd, in 1955; and her second husband, Arthur F. (Boots) Ahalt, on Dec. 18, 1997.

She was previously employed by Troy Laundry and retired from Brandt Cabinet Works.

She was a member of Manor Church of the Brethren.

She was a member of Washington County Senior Citizens at Manor Church, American Legion Post 10 and Boonsboro Auxiliary, and a life member of VFW Post 1936 Auxiliary.

Mary enjoyed going on bus trips with the senior groups and with her husband, Arthur, to Canada and all over the United States.

She is survived by a son, Russell B. Wingerd and his wife, Hilda, of Boonsboro; a half brother, Ned Spessard of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, Ernest Jay Wingerd, Anita M. Manor and Paul B. Wingerd; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael J. Andrauskas; a sister, Arlene Mason; and a brother, Russell L. Spessard Jr.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Jay E. Zepp and Pastor David Vance will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Thursday one hour before the service at the funeral home.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
