Mary Ann (Gantz) Lum, 76, of Boonsboro, Md., passed from this life while in the company of her loving family on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Md.

Born May 21, 1936, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Donald Wallace and Esther Kathleen (Winfield) Gantz.

Mary Ann was a 1954 graduate of Boonsboro High School and also attended Shepherd College.

Along with her husband, she was the co-owner and operator of Boonsboro Exxon/Amoco and Frank's Used Cars Inc. in Boonsboro.

Mary Ann was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boonsboro, Washington County Republican Club, Elephant Club, Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies and Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary in Boonsboro; and she enjoyed spending time doing aerobics and walking.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Franklin D. Lum; her daughter, Marilee E. Kerns and husband, Jeff, of Boonsboro; her son, Franklin C. Lum and wife, Amy, of Boonsboro; one brother, Donald W. Gantz Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; and three grandchildren, Nick Lum, Emily Lum and Logan Kerns.

A celebration of Mary Ann's life journey will take place Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Joseph I. Donovan III will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Boonsboro Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit beginning Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at noon at the funeral home, where the family will be present to receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
