Mary Jane Shockey Martin, 91, of Luther Drive, Chambersburg, Pa., and formerly of Biglerville, Pa., passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at her home.

Born Nov. 25, 1921, in Ringgold, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry Benjamin and Ruth Marie (Davis) Shockey.

She was a graduate of Smithsburg High School, and Beauty School of Washington, D.C.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Gettysburg, Pa., and Order of Eastern Star, Gettysburg Chapter 392.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, George F. Martin, whom she married Sept. 2, 1942; two daughters, Melissa Burger of Roanoke, Va., and Emily Silbaugh of Shrewsbury, Pa.; one sister, Etta Gearhart of Lancaster, Pa.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lydia Oyler; and one brother, Paul K. Shockey.

Services will be held Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St., Gettysburg, with Pastor Jeanette Leisk officiating. Burial will be in Biglerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Mary Jane to St. James Lutheran Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 4596, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
