Line dance lessons and Valentine's dance

The Country Western Dance Association offers line dance lessons each Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, corner of Halfway Boulevard and Virginia Avenue. 

The classes will be each Tuesday through March 19. The classes cost $5 per session. 

Also, there will be a Valentine’s line dance for singles and couples Saturday, Feb. 9, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the former Quincy Gym, 7888 Anthony Highway in Waynesboro, Pa.

Friendship Club to meet Tuesday

The Maugansville Senior Friendship Club will meet Tuesday at noon at the Maugansville Ruritan Building on Maugans Avenue. 

Attendees are asked to bring their own sandwich, but coffee and tea will be provided. 

The speaker will be Susan Schoenian, who will talk about her trip to the Canary Islands and Southern France.

Schoenian is a sheep and goat specialist at the Western Maryland Research and Education Center.

Business and Professional Women’s Club plans dinner

The Business and Professional Women’s Club of Hagerstown will hold its monthly dinner meeting Monday at Hager Hall Conference Center, 901 Dual Highway.

Networking is from 5:30 to 6 p.m., followed by dinner and a special program “Make Healthy Eating Part of Your Total Lifestyle,” presented by Lynn Little, who is a family and consumer sciences educator with University of Maryland Extension in Washington County. Her presentation will share ideas to support healthy eating habits.

Potomac Highland WW II Veterans Roundtable

There will be monthly roundtable meetings at 7 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month (except July and December) at Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, 405 Northern Ave. in Hagerstown.

The next scheduled roundtable will be Wednesday, Feb. 6, and will feature guest speaker Joe Stall, who will share a combat pilot escape map. The monthly meetings are open to the public as well as all World War II veterans and family members. There is no cost to attend.

World War ll veteran interviews

Friends of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., in conjunction with the Potomac Highlands World War II Roundtable in Hagerstown, will conduct interviews of WW II veterans Saturday at Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, 405 Northern Ave. in Hagerstown.

The purpose of the interviews is to document the contributions of each veteran who served in combat and noncombat roles so that future generations will always remember the sacrifice and service of each man and woman of the “greatest generation.”

The interviews will be conducted by college students associated with the Friends of the World War II Memorial. Each interview will last approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Girls softball league registration

The Washington County Girls Softball League will hold registration for girls in grades 3 to 8 at Dick’s Sporting Goods, 17780 Garland Groh Blvd. on Saturdays, Feb. 2, 9, 16, and 23 from noon until 5 p.m.
