Citizen's Police Academy accepting applications for spring course

The Hagerstown Police Department is accepting applications for the spring course of Citizen's Police Academy.

The 11-week course gives participants an overview of several divisions and operations of the police department.

The Citizen's Police Academy meets every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 9 p.m. starting Feb. 19, with three optional Saturday classes.

A short graduation recognition will be held on Tuesday, April 30 in Council Chambers at 7 p.m. The program is open to community members ages 18 and older, and it is offered free of charge. Participants who enroll must pass a criminal background check before the course begins.

Applications for the Citizen's Police Academy are available at HPD headquarters located at 50 N. Burhans Boulevard, Hagerstown.
