While raising their three sons, she worked in their family business, Deckers Market, for 25 years. After the business closed she spent the next 15 years working at RR Donnelly in Thurmont, Md. She also volunteered with the Blue Ridge Summit Free Library.

Virginia enjoyed bowling competitively in various leagues at Sunshine Lanes. She also enjoyed rooting for her favorite sports teams, the Redskins and Orioles.

Virginia was preceded in death by her brother, James.

She is survived by her husband, Alan Ladd Decker Sr.; brothers and sisters, Joseph of Spring Hills, Fla., Jerry of Decatur, Texas, John of Arlington, Texas, Nancy Bilardo of Orlando, Fla., and Carrie Combs of Oak Grove, Ky.; sons, Alan and wife, Rosemarie, of Waynesboro, Pa., Michael and wife, Stace, of Cascade, Md., and Mark of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; grandchildren, Paige, Alexander, Brandon, Jade, Chloe, Gage, Grace, Lilly, Gavyn and Jackson; many nieces and nephews, several loving relatives and many close friends.

The family would like to thank all of those who took care of Virginia during her last illness, especially Hospice of Washington County.

A memorial gathering has been arranged to be held at Davis Funeral home in Smithsburg, Md., on Feb. 9, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m. The family will receive family and friends at the Cascade American Legion following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in her memory to Washington County Hospice, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
