Hagerstown firefighters responded to another flooding call after cold weather caused several pipes to burst inside a vacant building Monday night at 16 Jonathan St.

City Fire Marshal Doug DeHaven said firefighters were at the scene from the time the call was received at 10 p.m. Monday to shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday. The city’s water department shut off the water supply.

The flooding caused a ceiling to collapse inside the building, DeHaven said. The electrical system also was damaged, but no fire was reported.

DeHaven said Hagerstown firefighters responded to more than two dozen flooding calls last weekend. One of those properties was the former Statton Furniture plant at 504 E. First St.
