Willis "Fred" Kitchen, 69, of Erie, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, surrounded by his children, following a lengthy illness.

Fred was born Oct. 7, 1943, in Williamsport, Md., to Willis G. and Betty Kitchen, both of Williamsport.

Throughout his life, Fred worked as an executive at West Penn Power and Overly Manufacturing in Greensburg, Pa., and most recently as a technician at the driver's license center in Erie. He was a loving grandfather who loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed cars, baseball and feeding the ducks while watching the sunset on Erie's bayfront.

He is survived by his children, Todd (Lisa) of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Tom (Sara) of North East, Pa., and Amelia (Mike) of Wellsville, N.Y.; his parents; brothers and sisters, Ellis Kitchen of Frederick, Md., Tim Kitchen of Hagerstown, Md., Eric Kitchen of Cumberland, Md., Susie Kitchen of Hagerstown and Beth Burtner of Knoxville, Tenn.; his four granddaughters, Analiese, Lily, Adeline and Lucy; and several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two infant daughters and his brother, Alan.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory LLP, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 E. 38th St., Erie.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Fred's family would like to express sincere gratitude to the expert medical and nursing staff at St. Vincent Health Center, and requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to St. Vincent Health Center, 232 W. 25th St., Erie, PA 16544.
