Five people taken to Meritus Medical Center following Thursday night collision

Five people, including a 2-year-old child, were taken to Meritus Medical Center east of Hagerstown to be treated for non life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle collision Thursday night at the intersection of Downsville Pike and Oak Ridge Drive, Maryland State Police said.

Cpl. R. Royer said the accident occurred at about 10:30 p.m., when the driver of a Buick Century traveling on Downsville Pike turned into the path of an oncoming Ford F-350 pickup truck.

The driver of the Buick, Samantha Tooley, 23, of Sharpsburg, was cited with negligent driving, Royer said.

State police named Tooley’s passengers as Christopher Insley, 26, also of Sharpsburg, Andrew Rodgers, 25, of Hagerstown, and a 2-year-old child.

Royer said the pickup was driven by Clifford Eiker, 58, of Thurmont, Md.
