Richard Marcellus Garvin Sr., 91, of Hagerstown, Md., died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born July 28, 1921, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Harry C. and Virginia Armstrong Garvin.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was self-employed as a cabinet maker and owned Garvin Reproductions.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Garvin, who died in 1983.

He is survived by a daughter, Virginia Deibert of Hagerstown; a son, Richard M. Garvin Jr. of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

A funeral service will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour before the service at the funeral home.
