Gloria Dean "Dee/Deany" Basore, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center.

She was the loving wife of Charles William Basore Sr., who preceded her in death on July 7, 2011. She died on their 61st wedding anniversary.

Born Aug. 2, 1934, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry Herman and Mary Magdalene Montgomery Gower.

Through the years she was employed at Wilson Dairy Bar, Victor Hosiery, London Fog, West End Market and Homewood Nursing Home. 

She loved playing bingo and all her bingo friends, especially Patricia Bennett and her friends at Western Enterprise Fire Hall.

She was a lifetime member of the Western Enterprise Fire Company, Ladies Auxiliary.

She leaves behind seven loving children, Cynthia Anne Miller and her husband, Bobby, of Falling Waters, W.Va., Pamela Kay Riner and her husband, Rob, of Middletown, Md., Charles William (Chuck) Basore Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Hagerstown, Lori Sue Benner and her husband, Dave, of Hagerstown, John Franklin Basore and his wife, Cindy, of Hagerstown, Dana Cherie Schuhly and her husband, Ernie, of Woodbine, Md. and Julie Lynn Basore of Hagerstown; two sisters, Judy Chaney and Cora Koontz; two brothers, Charles and Robert Gower. She has 15 adoring grandchildren, David and Scott Miller, Michael and Brian Benner, Matthew and Andrea Riner, Donnie, Jason and Chad Basore, Sherie Basore-Muritz, Josh and Jared Barnhart, Danielle Anderson and Steven and Zachary Schuhly. She also had 11 precious great-grandchildren, Paisley and Brinkley Miller, Tyler, Addison and Brendan Basore, Eliza and Dahlia Basore, Elise, Aubrey and Allison Barnhart and Hannah Benner.

Deany was one of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Harry (Pete) Gower, Richard (Dick) Gower, Larry (Huck) Gower and her sisters, Cleora (Bop) Forsythe, Betty Powichroski, Lula May Miller, and Mary Lee Hall.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. Rev. Ronald K. Faith will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. by the Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Jaskot.
