Town and Country Garden Club offering $500 to county student

The Town and Country Garden Club of Hagerstown is offering a $500 scholarship to support the ongoing educational efforts of a deserving student.

The scholarship will be awarded to a student in one of the following categories:

• A graduating Washington County high school senior who will be entering a college, university or other institution of higher learning with a major in horticulture, agriculture, landscape design or related field.

• A previous recipient of the scholarship who is continuing their education with a major as outlined above and who has maintained a grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

Application forms are available from the high school guidance counselors and must include, in addition to the questionnaire, a recent photograph and at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, adviser or employer describing the student’s abilities and qualifications.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of experience and interest in the area noted as well as scholastic records.

The scholarship recipient will be notified by mail on or about May 1.

Applicants must submit all completed forms no later than April 15 to Mary Helen Strauch, Scholarship Chair, Town and Country Garden Club, 17500 College Road, Hagerstown MD 21740.
