AAUW offers scholarships from proceeds of book sales

January 23, 2013

Applications for AAUW scholarships are available in the guidance/counseling departments of Washington County public, accredited private high schools and  Hagerstown Community College.

The Hagerstown Branch of the American Association of University Women, or AAUW, makes scholarships available to a number of Washington County residents seeking higher education. The scholarships are raised through the annual AAUW Used Book Sale.

Applicants must be female residents of Washington County with plans to obtain a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university. They can be high school seniors, students who already are attending college or women who no longer are attending college but wish to return.

Selection is based on academic grades, extracurricular activities, community service and financial need.

Anyone who would like an application form but cannot gain access to one at school can call 301-797-0525. If there is no answer, the caller should provide a name, address and telephone number, and an application will be mailed to her.
