Helene F. Crane Spranklin, 87, of Boonsboro, Md., passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, with her family by her side.

Helene was preceded in death by her two husbands, Clarence B. Crane, whom she married on May 12, 1945 and who preceded her in death in 1982; and Dr. John W. Spranklin Jr., whom she married in 1987 and who passed away in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Crane, in 1997.

Helene was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Boonsboro, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Helene moved to Boonsboro from Chevy Chase, Md., in 1966 to enjoy a rural life, restoring a historic stone farmhouse on Manor Church Road.

When not with her loving family, she enjoyed her friends, meeting new people and traveling, and she loved life to the fullest. She loved God's creations and saw beauty in every person and creature, and was known to light up a room wherever she went.

Helene is survived by seven loving children, Frank Crane, Stephen Crane, Nancy Erkman, Sally Sayers, Jack Crane, Mary Crane and Tim Crane. She also found great joy in her 10 grandchildren and her six great-grandchildren.

Services will be held privately at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Food For The Poor Inc., 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073.
