Linda L. Divelbiss, 66

Linda L. Divelbiss, 66, of Chambersburg, Pa., was called to her heavenly home by her Savior on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Chambersburg Hospital following a six-month illness. 

Born Jan. 9, 1947, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Helen Keefer Divelbiss. 

After graduating from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1964, she began a career with the U.S. Government's Department of Transportation and retired from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration after 39 years on Dec. 2, 2003. During her career, she was honored many times for her excellence in performance. She was the administrative assistant to the administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at the time of her retirement. 

During her career, she lived in Virginia with her beloved aunt and uncle, Stover and Margaret Divelbiss Walter, then moved back to Chambersburg in 2011. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, boating and being in the company of her beloved pet pug, Skuddles.

Linda had a very generous heart and helped and enriched the lives of many people.

She was a member of Welsh Run Church of the Brethren. 

She is survived by three sisters, Shirley Lilley (husband Michael) of Baltimore, Md., Judy Mongold (husband James) of Chambersburg, and Brenda Divelbiss of Chambersburg; nephews, Shawn Ott (wife Brandy) and their son, Cashal, and Todd Lilley (wife Jackie) and their daughters, Julia and Emma; and two nieces, Tara and Heather Lilley. 

A memorial service will be Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Welsh Run Church of the Brethren, 11420 Welsh Run Road, Mercersburg, Pa., with Pastor Nathan West and Pastor Bill Spangler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.   

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Welsh Run Church of the Brethren, Cemetery Fund, c/o Burnell Rice, 7972 Wayne Highway, Waynesboro, PA 17268 or Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.

Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
