Two men stabbed in altercations early Monday morning

Hagerstown police said two men were stabbed during a series of fights early Monday in the parking lot of the Washington Gardens apartment complex off Security Road.

One of the men was taken to Meritus Medical Center for treatment, according to a police department news release. The other man was taken to Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore.

Neither the names nor the conditions of the men was released.

Police said they were called at 1:33 a.m. for a report of a gunshot being fired in the 1000 block of Security Road. When officers arrived, they found a number of people involved in an active disturbance.

After getting the melee under control, officers said they found two men with stab wounds.

An investigation determined that the incident started when a fight broke out at a house party at an apartment at 1014 B Security Road, according to the release. It was during a series of physical altercations that the men were stabbed and a gunshot was heard.

Police said the investigation led them to an apartment at 1010 A Security Road, where they found that a bullet traveled through a window, struck the refrigerator and ricocheted back into the window.

Officers said no one was injured as the result of the gunfire.

No suspects have been named, according to the release.
