Truck, vehicle crash closes ramp near intersection of I-81 and I-70 in Washington County

January 21, 2013

A ramp at the intersection of Interstate 81 and Interstate 70 was closed for more than an hour Monday night after a propane tanker truck and a car became entangled on the ramp, according to a Washington County 911 supervisor.

The 6:36 p.m. accident occurred as the driver of the car was about to merge onto westbound Interstate 70, according to a Maryland State Police spokesman.

Both westbound lanes of Interstate 70 were closed for a short period of time until crews determined the scene was safe, the supervisor said.

It was determined the tanker was empty, the supervisor said.

The ramp was closed for a longer period of time so crews could get the truck and the car cleared from the wreck scene, officials said.
