A Clear Spring Middle School student was presented a Youth Meritorious Service Award last week by the Washington County Board of Commissioners.

Joshua Davis, son of Clarence Davis II and Karen Kraynak, was nominated by guidance counselor Earl Meagher, who wrote that the eighth-grade student demonstrated to his teachers, counselors and administrators that he respected adults, as well as his fellow students.

Commissioners President Terry Baker presented the award to Joshua at the board’s Jan. 15 meeting.

Joshua has participated in several school activities requiring leadership responsibilities, Meagher wrote.

Joshua is a member of the Where Everybody Belongs, or WEB, program, tutors other middle school students and has been on the honor roll consistently throughout his school career, he wrote.

“I would like to say that Joshua is a very kind person to everyone he knows,” Meagher wrote. “He is a model citizen and a credit to our school.”
