Washington County Sheriff's Office investigating spree of mail thefts

January 17, 2013

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a spree of mail thefts believed to have occurred Thursday along various roads east of Hagerstown, a deputy said Thursday night.

Stolen mail has been found littered on the ground in areas near Eastern Boulevard north, Jefferson Boulevard and several side streets off Jefferson, like Little Antietam Road and the Emerald Drive housing development, Deputy 1st Class Tim Atwell said.

Sheriff’s deputies were going door to door processing calls for pieces of mail that were discovered by neighbors, he said.

Atwell said the sheriff’s office did not have any suspects as of Thursday night.

Anyone with information may contact Atwell at the sheriff’s office by calling 301-313-2100.
