2. 'Dream Endures'

"The Dream Endures" will be Sunday, Jan. 20, at Parkhead United Methodist Church, fellowship building, U.S. 40 West, National Pike, west of Hagerstown. 5 p.m. presentation; 6 p.m. dinner. A tribute to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. presented by the senior church choir of Ebenezer AME Church, Hagerstown. Sponsored by Potomac Charge United Methodist Churches.

3. In song

Wayne Wold will lead a hymn festival which draws from many traditions and feature singers from several local parishes. Musical selections will include a work by Wold titled "Worthy is God to be Praised," written to honor Clair Johannsen, for his years of service as director of music and worship at Trinity Lutheran Church. 4. Fit for a queen

The  Miss Appalachia, Miss White Oak and Miss Northern Maryland. pageant will be Saturday, Jan. 19, at The Academy Theatre Banquet, 58 E. Washington St., downtown Hagerstown. The evening begins with a cocktail hour at 3 p.m. in the upstairs ballroom. The pageant will start at 4:30 p.m. $10, at the door.



5. Sing out loud

Finalists of Shepherd vocal competition, open to high school juniors and seniors, will perform in a recital followed by announcement of the winners. Event is Saturday, Jan. 19, at 1:30 p.m. Shepherd University's W.H. Shipley Recital Hall in the Frank Center, off University Drive, Shepherdstown, W.Va. Free and open to the public.
