Gordon¿s Grocery raises money for animal shelter

On Dec. 22, Gordon’s Grocery held a wine tasting to benefit the Humane Society of Washington County.

The event resulted in a cash donation of $244 and a large amount of food, litter, toys and blankets.

Gordon’s Grocery is at 101 Cypress St. in Hagerstown.

Hosted by store owners John Gordon and Cynthia Millsap, the wine tasting was in collaboration with Shawn Clopper of Monument Fine Wines.

Losses for the week totaled 22 pounds for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 in Hagerstown.

Rosemary Gill and Linda Siebert were the best TOPS losers, while Deloris Hays, Darla Hartley and Rose Shockey were the best KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) losers. Susie Sword won the ha-ha prize.

The no-no snack of the week is cake.

Elsie Horst won the December monthly get-r-done prize for TOPS and Joan Budny won for KOPS. Jo Ann M. won the yearly TOPS get-r-done prize and Mary Jo Cunningham won for KOPS.

Joan Gilbert gave a Pound Puppy to Betty Rice for encouragement. Secret Pals were chosen. Awards will be presented at the next meeting and team competition will resume.

The next scheduled play money auction is set for Feb. 11 and the annual open house will be Feb. 25.
