Through the initiative of Rita Wolfe, the parent of eighth-grade magnet student Alia Wolfe, the students at E. Russell Hicks Middle School collected 38 pairs of pajamas for donation to the Scholastic Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive.

Students donated a pair of new pajamas to be given to children in need and Scholastic matched each pair with a book for the recipient.

The school’s donation will be added to the 23,000 pairs of pajamas collected thus far nationwide.

The school held its drive Dec. 10 to 13. The students who donated were rewarded for their generosity by getting a pass to wear their own pajama bottoms to school.

The eighth-grade magnet students sorted and boxed the pajamas for collection by the local pajama chapter.
