Charles Lee Dorsey, 68, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away unexpectedly at his home Friday, Jan. 11, 2013.

Born March 2, 1944 in Hagerstown, he was the eldest son of the late Howard Lee Dorsey and Ms. Catherine Louella Kershner Dorsey of Hagerstown.

Charles attended South Hagerstown High School, where he was the first freshman to be awarded a varsity letter in football.

He had a long career with Barrick & Stewart Milk Co., formerly known as Horst Milk Transfer, hauling milk throughout the Tri-State area. He retired in 2008 after more than 40 years of service.

He was a member of Woodmen of the World, Potomac Fish and Game Club and Loyal Order of the Moose, and a lifetime member of the Volunteer Fire Co. of Halfway, Md.

In his spare time, he enjoyed raising rabbits for the 4-H club, and going to auctions and Ag Expos.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Rebecca Willard and her husband, Theophilus "Doc," of Smithsburg, Md.; a brother, Timothy Dorsey Sr. and his wife, Belinda, of Hagerstown; a sister, Louella Dorsey of Baltimore, Md.; his former wife, Dolores "Kitty" Boward of Halfway; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his Sheltie dog, Lady.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, Md., with the Rev. Doris Doub officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The funeral home will open Tuesday at noon for the convenience of family and friends.
