Louise M. (Barkdoll) Kline, 87, of Smithsburg, Md., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center.

She was the wife of Kenneth O. Kline Sr., who died Nov. 14, 1996.

Louise was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Edgemont, Md. She was the fifth of 13 children born to Lois (Stouffer) Barkdoll and Delbert S. Barkdoll.

She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greensburg, Md.

Louise had a kind and loving heart and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will truly be missed by all.

She loved working crossword puzzles, gardening and reading, especially her Bible and Amish novels.

She is survived by her loving children, Dorene Young and husband, David, and Sue Recher, all of Waynesboro, Kenneth Kline Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Williamsport, and Kerry Kline and William Gregorek, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Kenneth Kline III, and Kristyn Socknat and husband, John, all of Arlington, Va., Leslie Connor of Waynesboro, and Andrew Recher and Rachel Rogge, both of Champaign, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Kelsie Connor, and Alexandra and Nicholas Socknat; her brothers, Richard Barkdoll of Waldorf, Md., and Edward and Samuel Barkdoll of Smithsburg; sisters, Elsie Naile, Mary Regina Woodring, Julia O'Neal and Helen Black, all of Waynesboro; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Isabelle Kendall and Lois Miller; and brothers, Delbert, Walter Dale and Arthur Barkdoll.

Services will be Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg. Pastor Julie Brigham will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Ringgold, Md.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 13156 Edgemont Road, Smithsburg, MD 21783.
