If your dog can sit or wag its tail, it can play “My Dog Can Do That” at the Peaceable Paws dog training facility, at 17816 Spielman Road in Fairplay.

Prizes will be awarded.

This month’s canine game night will be Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.

Training sessions for basic good manners (adult and puppy), puppy social, real life and dogs in motion start this week.

Potpie dinner planned at Ruritan

District 12 Ruritan, at the corner of Manor Church and Breathedsville roads in Fairplay, will hold an all-you-can eat potpie dinner Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. 

The menu includes chicken and ham potpie, coleslaw or applesauce, dinner roll, tea or coffee. Desserts will be sold. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $3.50 for those younger than 12.

Alexander to speak at Lions Club meeting

Potomac Edison representative Doug Alexander will be the guest speaker at the Sharpsburg Lions Club’s regular meeting Jan. 17.

The Sharpsburg Lions Club also will attend a cabinet meeting hosted by the Boonsboro Lions Club at the Benevola United Methodist Church Jan. 27.

Sharpsburg Library to hold Family Movie Night

The Sharpsburg Library, at 106 E. Main St., Sharpsburg, will hold a family movie night Thursday, Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m. The popcorn will be free. Call 301-301-432-8825 or go to www.washco libray.org and select Sharpsburg to see the title of the film.

Master gardener course

If your green thumb is itching to try something new, join the Master Gardeners Program.

Master gardeners teach people good gardening techniques through talks, plant clinics, demonstration gardens and other activities.  Training will be held Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Feb. 14 to April 18 at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center near Sharpsburg.

Church to hold potpie dinner

Benevola United Methodist Church, at 19925 Benevola Church Road, will hold a buffet style chicken or ham slippery potpie dinner Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at the church social hall.

The menu includes chicken and ham potpie, green beans, coleslaw, pears, assorted desserts, iced tea, lemonade and coffee.

Admission is by donation only. Donations will go toward Micah’s Backpack, a program which helps feed children in South County.
