Alloway appointed to Senate GOP Campaign Committee

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — State Sen. Richard Alloway has been appointed chairman of the Senate Republican Campaign Committee for the 2013-14 election cycles.

State Sen. Joe Scarnati, president pro tempore of the Pennsylvania Senate, made the announcement Wednesday. 

The Senate Republican Campaign Committee (SRCC) is responsible for raising money for the SRCC and recruiting candidates to run for the office of state senator throughout the commonwealth.

“Senate Republicans lost a few seats in the last election cycle and I look forward to helping to lead the recruiting of qualified and hardworking Republican candidates throughout the state,” Alloway said in a news release.


Alloway was re-elected to a second four-year term in November. He represents the 33rd District, which includes all of Franklin and Adams counties and part of York County. 

Cumberland Valley Relief Center to hold quilt show

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Cumberland Valley Relief Center will host a quilt show Jan. 24-26 at the Cumberland Valley Relief Center at 4225 Molly Pitcher Highway in Chambersburg.

Hours for the show are Jan. 24 and 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Jan. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The show is a opportunity to view new hand-quilted pieces made in the Cumberland Valley. These quilts will be auctioned April 13 and 14 at the Pennsylvania Relief Sale at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pa.

More than 100 hand-quilted pieces will be displayed and a vendors table with quilting items for sale will be offered.

The show is free. Groups are welcome.
