Man pleads guilty to sale of a firearm to a prohibited person

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Sharpsburg man entered a plea of guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel, according to U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II.

Wilbur Slick, 60, pleaded guilty to sale of a firearm to a prohibited person in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Ihlenfeld said in a news release.

Slick, who is out on bond pending sentencing, faces up to 10 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jarod J. Douglas and investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.


General Motors Access Road Bridge closure delayed

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Highways said this week that the closure of General Motors Access Road Bridge on Berkeley County Route 9/30 has been delayed until Monday.

The closure is necessary for the demolition and reconstruction of the bridge, performed by contractor Orders Construction, according to a news release from the division of highways.

Signs will be in place to detour traffic around the project.
