Guy Wilson Mummert, 96, of 11005 Big Pool Road, Big Pool, Md., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro, Md.

Born Tuesday, Aug. 22, 1916, in Big Pool, he was the son of the late Ervin M. Mummert and Edith M. (Forsythe) Mummert.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Pearl Mummert, in 1998.

In his early years, Guy was employed by a contractor, building homes and later went on to work at Fairchild Aircraft from 1939 to 1948. He, more often, would be remembered for his television sales business in the Clear Spring, Md., area.

He was a founding member of the Polecat Hollow Hunt Club.

Guy and his wife, Genny, spent many years enjoying the winter months in Florida, entertaining family and friends.

He is survived by his son, G. Philip Mummert and wife, Nancy, of Big Pool; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a nephew; and nieces.

He was preceded in death by daughters, Hilda Y. Clugston and Wanda M. Baker; and a brother, Lee R. Mummert.

Services will be held Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Clear Spring with the Rev. Bennett Murray officiating.

Family will receive friends at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, Md.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fort Frederick Ruritan Club, 10005 Big Pool Road, Big Pool, MD 21711.

The family would like to extend an invitation to join them following the burial for food and fellowship at the Clear Spring Special Event Building.

Arrangements are being handled by both the Douglas A. Fiery and the Donald Edwin Thompson funeral homes.
