Pa. deadline extended on new reporting requirements for nonprofits

January 07, 2013

HARRISBURG, Pa. — State Rep. Rob Kauffman, R-Cumberland/Franklin, said Monday that the deadline for nonprofit organizations and charities to submit reports as part of the updated Small Games of Chance Act has been extended for one year.

“I know many local organizations have expressed concerns about the reporting requirements, so I am pleased the deadline to comply has been extended. This extension will give organizations the time needed to adhere to the new reporting requirements,” Kauffman said in a news release.

The governor’s office announced that the deadline is being extended from Feb. 1, 2013, to Feb. 1, 2014, for Pennsylvania Department of Revenue documentation required for small games of chance.

The Small Games of Chance law was updated recently to give nonprofit organizations the ability to increase the prize limits for their small games of chance, thereby raising more funding for the charitable works they perform in local communities, according to the news release from Kauffman.

“I continue to be in awe of the amount of community projects and scholarships supported by our area veterans groups, fire companies, civic organizations and other similar groups that use small games of chance to support these endeavors. They go to a great deal of effort to raise funds and give back to our local communities, and we, in turn, need to make sure they are able to continue these good works,” he said.

More information about the law is available on Kauffman’s website at www.repkauffman.com.

Questions regarding the reporting requirement that cannot be answered by reviewing the online resources should be directed to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue at 717-787-8275.
