January 07, 2013

A Virginia woman who was injured in a single-vehicle accident Saturday night on Interstate 81 near Hagerstown was listed in serious condition Monday morning at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Kaithlin Andrina Woodard, 18, of New Market, Va., was taken to Meritus Medical Center, then flown to Shock Trauma to be treated for injuries she suffered when the Mitsubishi Eclipse that she was driving traveled onto the grassy shoulder of the interstate and flipped, according to Maryland State Police.

Troopers said the accident happened at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday near the I-81 southbound exit for U.S. 40.

The roadway was closed for about an hour while workers cleaned up the scene.
