FROSTBURG, Md. — Kevin Gibson led Smithsburg with 13 points and Matt Sprecher was right behind him with 12 in the Leopards’ loss to Mountain Ridge on Saturday.

The Leopards (3-7) went 13-for-43 from from the field and couldn’t solve the Miners’ half-court zone defense, coughing up 27 turnovers.

HEDGESVILLE, W. Va. — The unbeaten Eagles (9-0) rolled with a 26-point first quarter and never looked back at Broad Run on Saturday.

C. J. Burks led Hedgesville with 23 points, Chris Shields had 14, Aaron Snider had 13 and Rahsaan Shanton added 11 points, who host unbeaten Martinsburg on Friday.

MARTINSBURG — Jalen Lewis scorched the nets for 28 points as Martinsburg racked up 62 points in the first half in Saturday’s game.

Lewis had six of Martinsburg’s 10 3-pointers, hitting 6 of 12. He was also 5 of 6 from 2-point range, and had five steals and six assists.

Donte Grantham added 20 points for Martinsburg (7-0) and Elisha Freeman and Jordan Robinson each scored 10.

LEWISBURG, W. Va. — Greenbrier East, one of West Virginia’s top Class AAA teams this year, handled Hedgesville with a strong second half.

Last year’s First Team state captain, Bianca Andre, led Greenbrier (8-0) with 23 points.

Carly Elliott led three Hedgesville players in double figures with 17 points, Kristen Nunn had 16 and Alexis Taylor scored 15.
