Minerva Virginia Batten, 98, formerly of Hedgesville, W.Va., died on Jan. 2, 2013, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro, Md.
Born Aug. 20, 1914, in Dargan, Md., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Saylor and Mary Elizabeth Waters Saylor.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry D. Hoomes Sr., and her second husband, Pree D. Batten Sr.
Prior to her marriage to Pree, she was employed by the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.
Minerva is survived by two daughters, Naomi M. Brower and husband Gary of Williamsport, Md., and Wanda B. Smith and husband Bill of Hudson, Fla.; one son, Steven P. Batten and wife Leeann of Nichols, N.Y.; two stepsons, Thomas D. Batten Sr., and wife Priscilla of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Pree D. Batten Jr., and wife Gail of Hedgesville, W.Va.; two stepdaughters, Betty Strine and husband Ray of Martinsburg and Harriet Molitoris and husband John of Hedgesville; one brother, Darrell Saylor and wife Darlene of Gerrardstown, W.Va., and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
