Way to go, Akelah Taylor

The employees of Memorial Recreation Center in Hagerstown would like to congratulate one of their youth members, Akelah Taylor, who has gone on to accomplish great things.

To add to her many accomplishments, Akelah has been accepted to Penn State University.

The Memorial Recreation team is proud of her and said, “For all you do as a volunteer at the center, thanks. Congratulations, job well done.”

Bookmobile to visit W. Md. Hospital Center

If you are unable to get to one of the community libraries, you can stop by the Western Maryland Hospital Center, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., on Thursday, Jan. 10, and peruse the Bookmobile from 3:30 to 4 p.m.

The Bookmobile was established in 1905 as the first mobile library service in the nation and the Washington County Free Library Bookmobile continues the proud tradition of serving patrons who do not otherwise have access to library services.

The Bookmobile stops once per month and books are checked out until the following month. The Bookmobile uses the same library card as the rest of the library system.

And if you know of a book in which you are interested, call 301-739-3250, ext. 155 in advance and find out if the book can be placed on hold and be ready for you to stop by and pick up.

You can also call the number for more information.
