21 - In football, South rallies to beat Thomas Johnson 21-14 and the Rebel defense picks off five passes.

22 - In football, Boonsboro rips Clear Spring 46-0, Catoctin rolls over Williamsport 40-7 and Saint James blanks St. John’s Catholic Prep 14-0.

24 - North Hagerstown qualifies for 3A/4A state golf meet for second time in three years as Nate Parchment leads team with a 76.

1 - Nationals clinch NL East title and a playoff spot for the first time in 79 years.

2 - In boys soccer, North beats Linganore 1-0 in overtime on Neal Dossouvi’s goal.

3 - In volleyball, Smithsburg beats Clear Spring 3-1. … Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera becomes first player to win the Triple Crown since Boston’s Carl Yastrzemski did it in 1967.

4 - In girls soccer, South Hagerstown gets first win after seven losses with 3-0 victory over Goretti. … NHL cancels first two weeks of regular season.

5 - In football, South rocks Smithsburg 38-6 and North outlasts Williamsport 53-27 with a 40-point first half.
