Christmas tree collection to start Jan. 2 in Hagerstown

The city of Hagerstown will offer the collection of Christmas trees for residents starting Jan. 2, according to a city news release.

The city’s Department of Public Works will collect Christmas trees only. All ornaments, tinsel, lights or other decorations must be removed. No other debris placed by the curb will be collected at that time.

Residents may place their tree at the curb in front of their residence as early as 4 p.m. before and no later than 7 a.m. on their scheduled collection date.

The pickup schedule is:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 2, and Thursday, Jan. 3 — Northwest Quadrant: From the west side of North Potomac Street to the north side of West Washington Street (U.S. 40) and all areas in between.
  • Friday, Jan. 4 — Northeast Quadrant: From the north side of East Washington Street (U.S. 40) to the east side of North Potomac Street and all areas in between.
  • Monday, Jan. 7 — Southwest Quadrant: From the south side of West Washington Street (U.S. 40) to the east side of South Potomac Street and all areas in between.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 8 — Southeast Quadrant: From the east side of South Potomac Street to the south side of East Washington Street (U.S. 40) and all areas in between.
