Gladys Irene Dawson, 69, of Hagerstown, Md., died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born Sept. 30, 1943, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Lee and Frances Mae Jordan Turner.

She was retired from Turner Transportation Group. She was a former owner and operator of Franco's Café and Salem Way Confectionery.

She was an avid bowler on Monday night mixed league, and The Salvation Army Ladies League, in her early years.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald E. Dawson Sr.; three daughters, Michelle L. Jenkins of Hagerstown, Tammy S. Jacobs of Clear Spring, Md., and Lorie A. Sharon of Hagerstown; two sons, Ronald E. Dawson Jr. of Halfway, Md., and Clinton A. Dawson of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Iona V. Alexander of Waynesboro, Pa.; one brother, George F. Turner of Hagerstown; 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; an uncle, Franklin Turner of Hagerstown; a special niece, Candace Hawn, and a special nephew, Olen Hawn.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Lana Hawn, and two brothers, William Turner, and Thomas "Petie" Turner.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at The Salvation Army, at the corner of George Street and Wise Street, Hagerstown. Sergeant Major Larry Miller and Gary Dawson will officiate. 

There will be no viewing.
