Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down for Dec. 22, 2012

December 21, 2012

Thumbs up to the Washington County Board of Commissioners, who this week decided against recommending raises of $5,000 to $7,000 for themselves as suggested by a salary commission. In a tough economy, such fiscal responsibility is to be applauded.

Thumbs up to those who organized and participated in local events and tributes in memory of the 26 students and teachers killed in the school shootings in Newtown, Conn. Though the tragedy occurred more than 300 miles away, it touched the hearts of many Tri-State area residents.
